It apparently works Poor guys have to be terrified of everyone, and I'm sure most people grab them by their tails. Like This Unlike J Man 13 Feb my cousin used to have a snake but had to give it away cuz it was to big, and he said he would buy the mice and freez 'em I don't think freezing them is too much of a humane way.
Their tissues freeze up, that has got to hurt. It would be just as bad as a human standing out in freezing weather, in like a tank top and shorts. Some people drown them, or just whack them on head. I'm thinking CO2 is the most humane out of all the options, other than a vet euthanizing them. But I don't think someone would spend that money just to feed it to their snake. Carbon dioxide? O 2 is oxygen right?
I don't know, I just know it's one of the most "humane" ways. Like This Unlike berrylux 13 Feb I don't like snakes that much either, some people I know own them. One friend has a cobra, and has to feed live mice. Snakes have to have live rodents, their eyes are different from ours. They see the warm blood of mice and live rodents, in their eyes warm blood is an orange blur, they will aim for a live rodent than a frozen rodent.
With no warm blood, it would appear as a blue blur to them. However I think it's better for rodents to be prekilled so they don't suffer, but you have to heat them up so the snake will be likely to eat it. Animals are in the food cycle, All of them have to eat.
I think snake should only eat insects only because I think they're "yucky". I feel bad for all the animals that have to die, but that was how nature was made to be. People own snakes because they are exotic pets. I wouldn't own one, except for a small one that eats bugs.
Because of the stories I've heard from all over, snakes attacking owners, it scares me. Like This Unlike Hannah 16 Feb Snakes can eat food that is gassed knocks them out almost immediatly and kills them in seconds and frozen, most require a transition. I was so lucky when I bought Biggy and Grayson! They stopped selling mice only a few days after I bought them!
Mice Are Cute wrote: I guess it would be fine to just pay close attention to which one's I pick, right? If you do want to check if there are any breeders by you, here's a link to a website.
Some mice I've gotten from pet stores had URIs. Remember, some pet stores are better than others. So far, I didn't have a very nice experience with PetCo's mice.
I advise evaluating all your options before deciding. Best wishes! Okay, now I know that I definitely will not be buying from PetCo The PetCo around me is not great at all.
The cages are crowded and dirty, and the mice have diarrhea eww. I feel absolutely sorry for them Some locations are like that, I guess Luckily, There is finally a new shelter near me! The shelter has already gone through quite a few mice.
I'm so glad they are getting adopted! I am really leaning to buying future mice there! By the way, I am not in the market for mice at the moment, but merely looking forward! That's a shame. But I'm glad to hear you found a shelter with mice in need of homes.
Update: I may be ready for new mice soon! I am not exactly sure that this is the best idea yet , but I leaning towards new babies soon! I already have names and already know that I want females.
Of course I am going to keep Biggy and Grayson; Don't worry about them! Here are the names I chose: Zelda Sputnik Demitri Freesia Does anyone know of an informative 'Bringing new mice home' article or thread?
